A momentous year for Variety – the Children’s Charity of Florida January 21, 2015 9:23 PM - Variety – the Children’s Charity of Florida

2014 was a momentous year for Variety – the Children’s Charity of Florida. They began the year by completing their $500,000 commitment to the Neonatal Unit of the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies at the Variety Wine Tasting hosted by Dunhill Properties and Fields BMW.

They held their annual Oktoberfest Event and invited Hunter, a charismatic youngster with tons of personality, who was a huge hit at their Oscar event.

A few years ago, Variety of Florida donated an adaptive bike to United Cerebral Palsy of Central Florida (UCP) where Hunter attends school. When they first met Hunter he was confined to a wheelchair; but, after regular use of the adaptive bike he is now able to stand, walk and dance! Hunter’s mother attributes his newly gained mobility to the equipment that Variety provided to the UCP.

For the Annual Mobility Day, Variety of Florida partnered with Epic Theatres and donated an adaptive bike to the Dr. Phillip’s Pediatric Rehabilitation Center for the Arnold Palmer Hospital. Variety made a video of the Bike Presentation which was shown in all Epic Theatres in Florida during the Christmas holidays. The video dramatically increased gold heart sales during this period.

They concluded the year with a Christmas Party for Homeless Children. Some of these same children will be attending Variety’s Summer Camp Program in August 2015.
